Keith Floyd dies age 65

Sadly Keith Floyd has died of a heart attack. He was 65.

Keith Floyd wasn’t, in the modern sense, a notable champion of sustainable issues in hospitality but arguably, as one of the first celebrity chefs, he conveyed knowledge of provenance, seasonality and encouraged broader horizons on global cuisine, thus may have sewn the seed for a greater understanding. The fact that he inspired television viewers and some of the biggest names in foodservice is indisputable.

As Marco Pierre White said on Radio 4’s Today programme: “If you look at TV chefs today they don’t have his magic. It’s a very, very, very sad day for my industry and secondly for a nation.”
